Question: Why is there death?

So I don't have to stay here forever. Who would want to do that? Its a nice place, I'd like to hang out for maybe a few hundred years and then I'm done, I'm outta' here. Who knows, I may get done sooner than that.
Why would you not want there to be death? Do you really want to stay here for the rest of eternity? Its not that nice a place, its okay for a few hundred years.
On another note: how could anything change without death? We are sitting here, saying we're interested in transformation and asking why there is death. Anytime a fundamental change in the nature of something happens, we could say that it has died and been reborn.
How could there be rebirth (or birth, for that matter) without death?
